Artist Biography

"Free your imagination. Then see where it can take you."
Roseann Caputo

A lovely soft sunrise over the ocean with a pier in the forground.
"Ocean Sunrise"
Roseann Caputo was born in the Pioneer Valley in Massachusetts, but spent almost every summer of her life in the Bronx borough of New York. The second generation of her family born in this country, her grandparents all came from southern Italy. Her father was a musician in his youth and was a strong
influence on Roseann’s eclectic taste in music. Music is often a place that Roseann turns to when she is focusing on a project. Her father’s eldest brother, Alphonse, was a painter.

Roseann has always been imaginative. It has come through in both visual art and writing. Although she enjoys both, Roseann decided to pursue visual art as a career.

Self-taught most of her life, Roseann began attending workshops whenever possible. She studied for a while with a local artist, Jeanne Baskin-Reich, of Longmeadow, MA. Jeanne introduced her to the KISS Principle. What Roseann took away from that was stick to the basics of art and the rest will fall into place. It was not long after this, Roseann discovered an allergy to some of the traditional paint media and switched over to digital media. Currently she is working on her Bachelor’s Degree from Southern New Hampshire University.

Her work was exhibited as part of a group show, the Art Cure Show and Auction at the Horizon Gallery in Savannah, Georgia.  She is a member of the Kappa Pi International Honorary Art Fraternity and the National Technical Honor Society. Roseann also has works in private collections.

"Autumn In New England"

A stunning fall image high in a forested mountain.
"Autumn In New England"
This piece was done as an homage to the Autumn season in New England. The foliage in the Berkshire Mountains during the fall is like nothing I've seen anywhere else. Seeing something like this can certainly sooth the soul. It earned an Award of Excellence in the "Celebrate the Healing Power of ART" competition held by Manhattan Arts International.

"Rigged"

An abstract piece of a 3D sculpture. It's got a blue metalic look to it.
"Rigged"
"Rigged" is the first in The Metalwork Series. I found some new media to work with and started to experiment. The first one that I liked was this one. "Rigged" was part of the Anything Goes contest on the Exhibitions Without Walls on-line gallery. It received an Honorable Mention.
